Aim: Aviation Mentorship
Target: Upper Primary & High School Youth
Duration: 5 Days in a Week: Monday to Friday
Time: 9:00am - 4:30pm daily (Day Program)

Cost: Ksh 35,000/- per week (less meals & ancillary)

Location:
Within Wilson Business Park in Wilson Airport.
The facilities include ample theoretical training classrooms, briefing rooms, operations centre, planning rooms, offices, rest areas, well stocked library and our simulator centre. Meals are available at cost from the dinning facility.
WHAT IS AVIATION MENTORSHIP?
This is a structured or informal relationship where an experienced aviation professional (the mentor), guides, advises and supports a less experienced individual (the mentee) in their professional development within the aviation industry.
It is widely practiced across fields like;

School youth passionate about Aviation Careers while in school as a 5 day program
- Solution
AKAD collaboration with the Kenya Aeronautical College offer Youth Pilot Engineer Professional Aviation Mentorship Program.
- Objective: Provide foundational aircraft knowledge, inspire interest in aviation careers & give hands on exposure to aircraft systems.
- Target is Upper primary and High school youth,
- Format: 10 days learning (may be compressed)
- + 2 days assessment / presentations
- Cost = Ksh 35,000/- per week
- Real flying option @ Ksh 35,500/- per hour shared flight & Simulator.

- Introduction
to Piloting & Aviation Engineering, one week practical and hands on mentorship
course;
- Basics of aviation engineering – how the aircraft flies, Aircraft Systems
- Meteorology, Mapping, Navigation & Flying blind
- Safety Procedures, Maintenance, Hanger & Control Tower
- Value Creation
- Real practical exposure to aviation industry for wise knowledgeable career choices
- Provides motivation to excel in current academic subjects; English, Geography, Physics leading to aviation subjects
- Cost effective introduction without investing millions in committed adult aviation studies
- Certificate awarded by Kenya Aeronautical College & Skymax Aviation, leading to seeking PPL, CPL, IR, ATPL and other aviation certification.

- Follow up school holiday classes will be at higher level classes.
Accommodation for out of town youth;
- From the Aero Club (high end) to Hostels in Nairobi West (cost TBA) per person sharing. Groups of students can be hosted elsewhere.
- Option of alternative one week full time KAC flying school in Malindi

- Identify main aircraft components & functions.
- Explain basic aerodynamic principles.
- Recognize key aircraft systems & role in safe operations.
- Perform a basic mock inspection/checklist.
- Understand possible aviation career paths.

Kindly note the following student responsibilities
1. AKAD mentorship requires feedback through daily Monitoring & Evaluation by way of Essay Writing. Details of essays, event or activity are available by clicking here
2. Essays are attached to Mentorship What’sApp group for peer review. Essays are easily written at any Cyber Café (no excuse of not having a personal laptop).
3. For a five (5) day experience, one writes six (6) essays; one for each day and final summary essay at the end of the week.
4. Parent - Sponsor has option to be included in the M&E group; objectively monitor and evaluate value addition for your investment, as well as intelligently engage as parent / sponsor.
5. Dress code formal clothing; white shirt, black trousers, black leather shoes (closed) to avoid injuries. Therefore no turning up in jeans, crocks, hoodies and other popular teenage attire – management reserves the right of admission; such students will respectfully be turned away.
7. Any extra requirements by authorities - Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), Wilson Airport, etc. will be communicated as required. These may attract additional compliance requirements or costs outside our control.
8. Specifics such as test flights are outside our control. These include KCAA, Wilson Airport and other safety guidelines. Compliance is mandatory for such.
